Celebrating 52-years with $52

I think 52 is a pretty good number when it comes to wedding anniversaries. We just celebrated ours on June 8.

To celebrate this year we went to Cy’s Hoof and Horn in Sedgwick and spent a dollar for every year we’ve been together. It may sound expensive (included tip) but it always is enough to bring home for another meal.

For our Twentieth we went to New Orleans and our Thirtieth to San Francisco. For our Fiftieth we took our kids, their spouses and our grandkids to Tybee Island off the coast in Georgia. It was a great time for us all, I believe.

For those of you who don’t know, I married my high school sweetheart in 1967. She was 18 (almost 19) and I was 21.

My the time has flown by. I told her if I had to do it over and would do it again and she agreed.

Through sickness and whatever she has been by my side. And believe me, there have been plenty of the former if surgeries and stents count.

I didn’t realize she was such a hawk—nothing gets by her.

Glenn Goertz’s family sure knows how to throw a birthday party as evidenced by the 88th they threw for Glenn on June 9th.

There was apricot cobbler with ice cream and everything.

I’m hoping to make it to my 88th as that is when our city will be celebrating its sesquicentennial in 2034. or those of you who don’t know what that “s” word means it is the 150th.

Since I am not driving anymore because I don’t want to injure anyone including myself, I sold my pickup truck to a good family. I think it is kind of like selling a pet. You want to make sure it goes to a good home, and I believe I have done that.

Plus they have agreed to let me borrow it if my kids come to town and I need it.

I’ve driven us around for the first 50 years so I figure Nancy can drive us around for the next 50 years.

You won’t believe all of the trouble it causes when your credit card is hacked and they issue you a new card number. We know.
