Celebrate free papers this month

July is ?Free Paper Month.? It will be celebrated the entire month, and it is fitting that it be celebrated during the month we celebrate our independence.

Most of you have not yet heard of Paper Chain, the organization that represents free community papers to the ad-buying industry. It is with PaperChain.com that you can find out everything you need to know about free papers when making an ad buy. All of the CVC audits of the free papers across the land can be found there, including ours.

As part of the grand celebration, one lucky reader across the country will have a chance to win a $500 gift card to a local business. Go here to enter: www. paperchain.com/contest.

If you missed the fireworks show in Peabody this year, Free Press sports and feature writer Janae, captured the finale on video and you can find it on our website in ?Breaking News? at http://www. hillsborofreepress.com/com ponent/content/article/3/ 18099874.html.

We are sporting a new conference room at the office, which is something we haven?t had before. I really didn?t need my office back in the north front of the building, but rather a place where I could meet with my book clients, as well as a place for interviews for our news staff or any other occasion that required a bit more room and privacy.

It?s also a place to show off a few of the awards we have won.

In this week?s edition you will find the Marion County Fair tab, which will help you plan the events you would like to attend this year. It also lists the Open Class rules and regulations and a list of categories you can enter for the fair, which is July 24-27.

Social media are great for keeping up with family and friends, but they can almost be too instant at times. In the past couple of years I have learned about the deaths of some good people I know and I would rather not learn about their passing in this way.

I still don?t get Twitter. Some of what I see on it interests me, but most of it does not. I am not prone to check it very often.

I followed Jim Gaffigan for a while but had to unfollow a short time later because he would sometimes have a half dozen tweets in a row and none of them were relevant to any circumstance, from my point of view. I guess that?s why you are given the choice to unfollow.

As soon as someone has the new Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act figured out I would appreciate them telling me what it really means.

Since the rules and regulations are being written as they go, I?m not sure if anyone will ever figured it out completely.

I received a letter from my CPA letting me know that I will owe $1 per employee by the end of July of this year since we participate in a health reimbursement plan. We are required to submit a Form 720 along with our payment. If we have any questions or need assistance we can contact our CPA about this.

One of the most rewarding parts of my book-printing business is meeting people from all walks of life and learning about the many interesting things they have experienced and written.
