Another idea for the world

I ?ve had a few ideas for inventions in my life and have just come up with one more.

Driving into the sun, figuratively speaking, can be a real problem this time of year. And the car visors really don?t work as well as they could. If you pull it down far enough to block the sun, you really can?t see anything you need to see.

So my idea is to have an opaque circle that could be inserted into the visor, then could be slid in either direction to block the sun and let you see the rest.

Until then, I thought of using a piece of cardboard cut in a circle and then clipped to the visor with one of those big refrigerator magnet clips. You could throw the magnet away.

I heard the best way to avoid cutting one?s fingers when slicing vegetables is to get someone else to hold them.

?

It was a rough week for our local teams in the post-season tournaments. Expectations may be high, but there?s no rule you have to win every game. The accomplishment of getting to the dance is still something to crow about.

?

I?ve started to write my column in the middle of the prior week that they run. Takes away a lot of the stress on Monday. However, we are in a ?last-minute business,? which for most everything else we do is par for the course.

?

I went to the Hillsboro Chamber/HDC lunch at the Scout House this past Tuesday where Clint Seibel recognized the contributions that the Vogt families have made to our community via their grocery business for the past 89 years. It was a great tribute and deservedly so.

And we also welcomed the new owners of the store to town. The torch is passed and we wish the new owners of Heartland Foods well.

?

Going to Manhattan for the Class 2A state basketball tournament wasn?t a total disappointment. I found a chicken club sandwich that was very, very good and something I am going to try to duplicate at home if I ever get around to it.

?

And we will need to buy a grill since we no longer have one after the move. Keeping them outside in the weather wasn?t such a great idea?they basically rusted out in a couple of years. And I tired of buying replacement parts, which were plenty expensive.

We have a covered place for the new one, and since the weather is getting warmer more frequently it?s time to make it happen.
