Loving the autumnal season

Most people wait impatiently for summer—for the pool, the sun and the lemonade. I, on the other hand, wait for fall.

Fall is the most beautiful time of year. The crisp, colorful leaves falling from the trees, the hot apple cider, football games and Halloween. The weather is beautiful, and the best time of year for fashion. You can’t lose with boots, sweaters and flannels.

There are certainly autumnal essentials everyone needs to make the most of the season.

Taking photos is one of my favorite things to do. Capturing the shades of red and yellow in the trees is a way to save fall in your phone forever. The sunsets are so gorgeous this time of year, with hues of pink, orange and blue.

Everyone should play in the leaves. Act like a kid again, and rake up a big heap. Grab a friend and jump in! This was one of my favorite things to do when I was little, and I still carry on the tradition. I love the damp, earthy, fresh scent of the leaves. The smell of fall air is crisp, cold and so refreshing.

A great novel is a must-have for fall. This is the perfect time to wrap in a blanket, sit by the window and enjoy the beautiful colors and get lost in a good book. I am obsessed with reading, and I’ve read some amazing books recently. I spend most of my free time diving into them. Being transported into another world, then coming back to the reality of October, there is nothing better.

Another form of entertainment you have to indulge in this fall is movies and TV shows. Break out the Halloween films and have a binge-watching day. “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Hocus Pocus,” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” are all great titles I have to watch every year. Though sometimes I get quite excited and sneak a few in a little early.

I personally am a big fan of horror. I love the fluttery, anxious feeling in my chest when I’m watching a scary movie. I also always make sure to have a warm drink and some popcorn within reach when watching. Chia tea is definitely my favorite; the spices and warmth just make it so autumnal.

Speaking of Halloween, it is not fall without this holiday. Carving pumpkins, hay rides, costumes and caramel apples are what I look forward to all year. Celebrating by eating junk food, being scared and spending time with friends is a perfect day for me. You get the chance to be someone else for a night, whether it be a Dracula or Ariel the mermaid.

As I mentioned before, fall is the best time for fashion. Dark colors like maroon, black, brown and yellow look so lovely together. Sweaters are the best tops you can find. They are stylish, warm, and usually cheap! Everything a high school girl needs. Boots are also an essential. They keep your feet safe from the cold, and look great at the same time. What can you complain about?

Feeling cozy and homey is a great way to make the most of the season. Having lots of candles in your house can really make a space feel that way. Scents like pumpkin spice, pine and lavender vanilla are so lovely. Though it’s simple, I love the glow of candles. The flickering yellow of the flame makes a room feel so comfortable and warm.

Fall is the best season of all, so why not make the most of it?
