17th Marion County Toy Run planned for Saturday, Nov. 6

The 17th annual Marion County Toy Run, featuring a parade of motorcyclists and classic car enthusiasts, is planned for Saturday, Nov. 6.

Sponsored by the Sons of American Legion 366, ABATE of Kansas District 9 and Route 56 Classic Cruisers, the Toy Run has turned into a major benefactor for underprivileged children in Marion County.

Each participant is asked to donate one new toy as his or her entry fee. These toys, as well as donations and money raised at an auction and chili feed after the Toy Run, are donated to community Christmas trees and area ministerial organizations to provide a better holiday season for Marion County kids.

Thanks to the support of the Marion County community, the Toy Run has raised more than $100,000 in its first 16 years.

This year?s Toy Run will begin at 1 p.m. at Sher Bowl Lanes, 131 S. Thorp, Marion. Toys will be collected for distribution at Hillsboro State Bank, followed by the auction and chili feed at American Legion Post 366.

Donations may be sent to Marion County Toy Run, c/o Hillsboro SAL 366, 405 S. Floral Drive, Hillsboro, KS 67063, or by contacting one of the sponsoring organizations.
