Was job awarded on performance?

A recent job opening for Marion County assistant to Road and Bridge Supervisor Randy Crawford had three applicants. The job was awarded to Larry Cushen?berry.

Was Mr. Cushenberry selected for this position based on his excellent work performance or as a reward for being Lori Crawford-Lalouette?s election treasurer and the lead person for her campaign for county commissioner?

Just asking, as many other people in District 1 would like to know.

Grant will help volleyball program

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission would like to thank the Hillsboro Com?munity Foundation for awarding a $500 grant to the HRC volleyball program.

This grant will help purchase Volley-lite volleyballs, which will be used in our youth volleyball camp and league. These balls weigh 25 percent less to help players develop early skills with less fear of impact.

We are pleased that the Hillsboro Community Foun?dation approved our grant application because we feel this validates our goals, which is to improve the quality of opportunities we offer to our area youth as well as the people who support them in their endeavors.

Thank you again for your support!

Douglas E. Sisk

HRC director
