Eagle promotion laid an egg

I was pleased to read that someone else has had trouble with the Wichita Eagle telemarketers (Partly Nonsense, March 1).

During the past two years, we have received some un-ordered Wichita Eagles. We also received two different telephone marketers offering a low-cost renewal, which we clearly refused. We never received a bill for these free issues.

Recently, in the mail, we twice received an offer of eight weeks of Sunday papers for $19.18. I thought I would go ahead and order that. I included the coupon and $19.18 for the order.

No paper came for several weeks. I went to the office in Wichita to inquire what happened to my order. The supervisor said it was for issues I agreed to on the phone. I asked her if they had a recorded tape of the telemarketer. She said yes and finally agreed to listen to the tape.

Now, no response and no newspapers. I want my $19.18 back.
