Ramona celebrates July 4th in style
I wanted to take a moment and just tell everyone what a great Fourth of July our county had this year.
Living in this area now for several years and annually enjoying the wonderful fireworks at Peabody, I was disappointed that we weren?t going to be there this years. Instead we took our children to Redneck in Ramona for the pedal pull.
I was amazed to find such an incredible turnout for their events. There was a parade, pedal pull, activities for all ages, amazing food and a fireworks display that would take your breath away. The atmosphere was definitely family oriented and fun-filled.
It was great to see the how the businesses in the area stepped up to help sponsor the event and truly make the evening great.
Congratulations to the town of Ramona for keeping the energy and the community alive.
So next year when you are looking for a new tradition or a new way to celebrate Indepen? dence Day, remember that we all can be rednecks in Ramona!

125th Celebration draws in community
We would like to thank everyone that came out to help make Hillsboro?s 125th Anniversary Celebration a successful event. It was great to see those that participated by giving ?gifts to the city,? growing beards, bringing out their antique cars, modeling vintage clothing, serving food and/or joining in any of the activities.
The Free Press is to be congratulated on the special 125th Commemorative Issue that highlights Hillsboro citizens that have helped to make our city a special place. We also want to thank the Free Press for its help in advertising the 125th activities.
There is still an opportunity to be a part of 125th and the 150th Anniversary in 2034 by putting something in the time capsule. Envelopes can be picked up at Baker Bros. Printing or the City office where they are to be returned by July 20.
With everyone working together it?s exciting to think what the city of Hillsboro will look like in the year 2034 when we will celebrate the 150th.
