Appreciation for contest?s reception

On behalf of the Heart of America Free Flight Associa?tion, we would like to thank the citizens of Marion and Marion County for the reception given us for our annual Fathers? Day weekend contest.

This was, of course, our first time in Marion and we were delighted by the way everyone involved in the contest was treated and greeted. Contestants came from Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and all over Kansas.

Our particular thanks to Marion?s economic development director, Doug Kjellin, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make our event possible and pleasurable.

We would like to thank the Marion County Record of the pre-event publicity, the Hillsboro Free Press for the post-event story, the many businesses that posted information about the contest, the area farmers for allowing us access to their fields surrounding the Marion Airport, where the contest was held, and to the Marion City Council for welcoming us.

Marion is truly a unique community and its hospitality ise second to none. We thank you most sincerely and hope with equal sinceruty that you will have us back next year. We are certainly looking forward to it.

Mike Basta, contest director

Paul L. Thomas, Marion contact

Thanks for support through 61 years?

I am retiring from my upholstery-shop business. I sold my business to Austin Jost; he will take over July 1.

I would like to thank the community for the support you have given me in my 61 years of being in business. I have learned to know many people and have made many friends through my business.

I would appreciate it if you would support Austin like you did me.

Ray Matz
