‘Addict’ says thanks for article

Thank you, Aleen Ratzlaff and the Free Press for the story on the lap swimming at the Hillsboro pool and Jean Beauchamp (Aug. 10 issue). I want to be like her when I grow up!

I am one of those who is “addicted” to that morning swim, and am already dreading the end of the summer season and looking forward to next summer.

Thanks to Marci Cain for her excellent management of the pool, and to the city for paying to heat it when it’s still cool in June.

Come September, I will be making the trek to the Wellness Center in Hesston several times a week, and I love that facility and the people there too.

I have often wondered why Hillsboro didn’t put in a year-round facility, with the college and nursing homes in town, but… it is what it is, and it is wonderful for three months.

A way to give back to our schools

Each year Hillsboro schools participate in many different inter-generational activities at Parkside. We would like to take the opportunity to help give back to them for the joy that the students and teachers bring to the residents.

The next time you are shopping, we encourage you to pick up a few extra school supply items to donate to our local schools. Donations can be made at Parkside until Aug. 31 and we will deliver all donations to the Hillsboro schools.
