Hillsboro resident curious about placement of new improvements

Dear Editor,
I would like to commend the leadership of Hillsboro for the progressive projects that are or have happened in our community over the past few years. My only question is how is the location of these projects determined? A beautiful walking/bicycling trail plopped down in a field would have been a wonderful addition to our park/recreation complex/fairgrounds area with all its shade and sitting areas. Or a splash park built downtown rather than near our aquatic center. Instead of kids being able to go from pool to splash park and back to pool we will now require them to bicycle/walk/ride a mile to do so. Hillsboro is proud of making our community an inviting and enjoyable place to visit or live but a little more thought to the location of these enhancements might make it even more so.
I would also like to throw out a few ideas for future consideration;
1. Pickle Ball courts, a sport for all ages and abilities. Four pickleball courts fit into 1 tennis court.
2. A miniature golf course, again a recreation for all ages and abilities.
3. I would love to see an old-style grandstand and dugout area built around our baseball field. It would create a beautiful and unique entrance to the park and fairgrounds.
I have other ideas but I have taken advantage of enough of your time and space.
Thank You,
Reg Matz
