Even as Kansas weather goes, Sunday was an odd day in Marion County?and much of the state, for that matter. It began with light showers continuing from Saturday night into the morning hours, raising our spirits after an unusually dry spring so far. But by evening, whatever enthusiasm was generated by the morning moisture was doused by that peculiar blanket of dust kicked up by the merciless Kansas wind.
This has to be one of the windiest spring seasons on record. It seems that for every ?calm day? we enjoy?which is a relative term in Kansas anyway?we have had to endure five days with winds clocking 30 mph and beyond. Granted, we can?t do much about these conditions except complain. But it does help to blow off some steam.
