Turnaround

Good news comes in strange packages sometimes. Word that the Marion County Special Education Cooperative is not near financial collapse, as was widely believed, was great news this past week.?But how the forecast changed from some $1 million in the red to $325,000 in the black is downright baffling.

Perhaps the mystery will unravel in the next few weeks, but it?s hard to imagine how such dramatic financial miscalculation could have occurred. That some teachers had already been informed that their job would be terminated is truly unfortunate. We hope the damage can be minimized.

At any rate, there?s light at the end of the tunnel. We?re pleased that it appears children with special needs in our county can continue to get the top-notch services provided through MCSEC. We look forward to seeing the next step in a new direction. ?DR
