Years ago, the local newspaper ran an occasional feature called the “Did Something Award.” It cited the effort of local folks and businesses that went above and beyond to make a positive difference for the town.

We couldn’t help but think of that award as we witnessed the ribbon-cutting for MB Foundation’s beautiful $2.1 million building at the corner of Washington and D streets. Not only is it an impressive edifice, but it replaced an old and deteriorating Prime­Time building plagued with underground gasoline storage tank issues.

Thank-you and congratulations, MBF. You saw potential for beauty and purpose where most of us saw ugliness and waste, and did something transformational. May more of us do the same when we can. —DR
