Small businesses make big impact

We want to congratulate Vogt?s Hometown Market, Golden Heritage Foods and Wendy?s for recently being recognized by the Kansas Department of Commerce.

Each of these businesses should be commended for their role in raising the quality of life in our community.

Few, if any, government programs can match what small local businesses can offer.

These entrepreneurs live and work in Marion County, they support the public schools, the college and local charities and share community concerns along with the rest of us. In addition to what these businesses do for their community, most strive for a high level of business ethics while providing jobs to employees and services for customers.

Small businesses are what make capitalism work, offering capable and beneficial training to young people or helping the unskilled become marketable in the workforce.

We want to express our gratitude to all Hillsboro and Marion County businesses because each is an integral part of the engine that drives the local economy.?PD
