Mini-Madness

We’re enjoying our own mini-March Madness as three local teams head for their respective elite basketball tournaments. The Tabor College men are heading to Point Lookout, Mo., for the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship. The Tabor women, meanwhile, are heading northeast to Sioux City, Iowa, for the comparable women’s tournament.

Our congratulations to both teams for reaching that level of competition for yet another year. We wish them both success.

Meanwhile, the Hillsboro High School boys will be heading to Manhattan today to open play in the Class 2A state tournament in Manhattan. It marks the second trip to Bramlage Coliseum for a Trojan team in four years, but also the second trip to a state tournament since 2004.

If there’s a thread that ties these three programs together this year, it’s a combination of athletic ability, hard work, great coaches and supportive fans. Enjoy the achievement one and all. —DR
