Extremes

Two front-page stories about two car accidents. The outcomes are about as extreme as they can be. In one, a student at the local college dies in a one-car accident that seems to lack a clear cause. In the other, a carload of local residents walk away from a two-car, nearly head-on collision that could well have been catastrophic. Tragedy in one case, celebration in the other. Questions of ?Why?? and ?Why not?? abound in this mix of events. Clear answers may never surface, but surely we can agree that the line between tragedy and celebration can be mighty thin. Some say the determination is in Divine hands while others refute that. Regardless, we are reminded to live each day of our lives prepared for either outcome. ?DR
