Dream fulfilled

Congratulations to Tabor College and its supporters upon the near completion of the long-awaited Shari Flaming Center for the Arts. The dream for a new auditorium on campus goes back at least 30 years, when this Tabor student was working on his degree. With the vision and persistence of current Tabor College leaders, fund-raisers and contributors, that dream will be fulfilled and celebrated officially with a dedication ceremony from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

The enormity of this project matches its sizeable physical structure; it is the largest building project in the school’s history. Spearheaded by President Jules Glanzer, the college’s constituency was challenged to give generously to see this dream finally fulfilled. The constituency came through big time, contributing $18 million to the college’s Signature Campaign, with $13 million of the gifts going for the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts.

Beyond the advantages for Tabor College students, professors and activities, the facility is a boon for the city of Hillsboro and Marion County. Both college and city have expressed interest in cooperating to bring in significant performers and programs with potential to draw large audiences and generate positive exposure for the entire community. We add our sincere congratulations to all who made this project a reality. —DR
