Do your research before you vote

This upcoming election isn’t for homecoming king and queen. It’s not for whom is most popular in the county and it’s certainly not something that should be taken lightly.

Unfortunately, in many local elections the issues get thrown out the door and instead the most popular person running gets elected.

People sit down, say XXXX candidate is a nice guy and would do a good job and move on. That is only when people actually show up to vote and don’t just assume the right person will get elected.

In this week’s Free Press is a fairly good breakdown of the issues from candidates running for county commission and the state house seat.

Please take the time to read them, schedule some time to vote, and do that voting with the issues in mind. This is your opportunity to tell those in charge how you want the county and state to run. Do it with purpose.

It’s easy to win a popularity contest in Marion County. So, please don’t let this election turn into one.
