Marion County Emergency Manage?ment, assisted by more than a dozen medical, instructional and disaster relief organizations, is hosting the first countywide preparedness fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Marion County Fairgrounds. The public is invited to take advantage of the many professionals on site to prepare themselves and their loved ones for the day that nobody believes will come?until it?s too late.
MCEM Director Randy Frank estimates maybe 1 to 2 percent of households in our county has a clear plan in place to protect themselves if a disaster threatens. He?d like to see that change so when a disaster hits, people not only can survive it but actually be in a position to lend a hand to others who are less fortunate. Are you prepared? ?DR
