Among the best?

Say what you will about the state of our state, but Kansans may have it better off than residents of most other states when it comes to the way it?s managed. The website for 24/7 Wall Street (247wallst.com) recently ranked us ninth on its ?The Best Run States? list based on the following criteria: state debt per capita, $2,086 (10th lowest); percentage of citizens without health insurance, 13.9 percent (24th lowest); percent living below the poverty line, 12.8 (tied for 21st lowest) and unemployment rate, 6.7 percent (12th lowest).

The only states rated higher than Kansas were (from the top) Wyoming, Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Utah, Vermont and Virginia. California was judged the worst-run state, with Illinois, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada filling out the bottom five.

Kudos for Midwest common sense? ?DR
