We congratulate the Marion baseball team, Hogan Lovelady of the Warrior golf team, Harry Faber of the Hillsboro tennis team and a total of 42 track and field athletes from the six schools in our distribution area for representing us in state athletic competitions this month.

Hillsboro pole vaulter Tyler Proffitt emerged as the sole state champion, and we salute him for it. But not achieving a gold medal doesn?t take away anything from the accomplishment of qualifying to compete at the highest level of one?s sport.

Additional students from our schools rated among the best Kansas has to offer in a variety of other endeavors, among them music, forensics, academics and FFA. What connects them all is the determination to apply themselves to the best of their ability. Realizing that hard work paves the road to success is a lifetime achievement. ?DR
