People who know Wade Weibert are almost excited as he is about his success this fall as the starting center for the Kansas State football team. Wade is one of those individuals who was ?successful? long before he signed on to pursue his football dream of playing for the Wildcats. We?re talking about strength of character, a compassionate heart and a gentle spirit that belies his considerable physical size. His persistence in the face of long odds has been rewarded.

It?s interesting to us that the last Hillsboro Trojan to start for Kansas State also played at the center position. Tim Wasemiller, now deceased, anchored KSU?s offensive line during the mid-1970s. The accomplishment of these two young men, of different generations, speak to the potential of all young people to achieve high goals through hard work and commitment. ?DR
