I was lucky to go along to New York City?the city that never sleeps?this past week with Nancy. We went with a her friend, who is also in the clothing business, to find new clothing lines for their stores.
I?ll have to say that I am hooked on New York. I packed a lot of fun in the two full days we were there.
The first thing I wanted to do was to be on ?Good Morning America? in Times Square on my birthday. After getting up at 5 a.m. (our time) and standing behind the fence for an hour in the cold rain. I got my five seconds on national TV holding up the birthday sign I made for the event.
I also met some nice folks from Albuquerque, K.C. Mo, and Ireland while waiting for the camera to roll.
I set the DVR at home to record GMA, then paused the recording to take this photo from the TV screen.

I received an email from one of my long-time friends and book customer in Nor?man, Okla., Molly Griffis, who has written more than a dozen books, including some written for children.
She told me her 5-year-old grandson William read her ?Buffalo in the Mall? book, then declared she was a good author and that he thought he would write a book, too.
Molly got excited and in her words: ?I allowed as to how that was a wonderful idea and rushed to get him pencil and paper and smiled as he situated himself at my desk to begin his first novel.
?He clutches the pencil, squints at the paper, and says, ?How do you spell Chapter One??
?We?ll be needing a (printing) quote from you for 10,000 copies the minute he finishes!?

I had the pleasure of attending a Broadway musical scored by Cyndi Lauper titled ?Kinky Boots.? We got great seats, like five rows from the stage. The performers were on top of their game. If you want to know more, go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7AftkgXM_A.

We flew Southwest Airlines to NYC through Dallas, then through Chicago on the return. They now have free WiFi on the planes. I was able to watch the NFL playoffs all the way to NYC on my phone. The screen is small, but so is the seat in which you sit.

I have a suggestion for airlines. Put USB?ports on your planes. Phone batteries aren?t made for that duration. I had to plug my phone recharge cable into my laptop to finish watching the second game.
