Two people have applied for the vacant USD 410 board position according to Superintendent Clint Corby. He told the board at the monthly meeting on May 8 that they have received two letters of interest regarding the position—one from Sarah Fenske and one from Ashley Kleiber.
“What other information will we have outside of the interview to help us make that decision?” asked board member Scott Winter.
“Well, it would be your prerogative if you have something else that you wanted. Do you have ideas of something else that you wanted to see?” said Corby.
“I don’t know. Normally it’s voted on, but if we are interviewing someone don’t we want resumes?” said Winter.
Board member Sara Wichert stated that none of the board members who were elected had to fill out resumes and that the candidates would also essentially be voted on just by a smaller pool.
Corby explained that he had pre-decided questions for the board members to ask as well as the letters of interest for each board member to read through. The board agreed that Corby was capable of selecting the questions for the candidates. The board also discussed that there could be no interviewing or conversations conducted outside of the open meetings.
The board decided to have candidates include their education, related knowledge and experience and any community service experience in their letter of interest so that the board could get to know the candidates better.
Candidates can express interest and apply through May 18. The board plans to interview and select an individual to fill the vacancy at the June 12 meeting. The candidate chosen will be announced at that time.
The board returned to the topic of dual sports for the previous meeting and decided not to pursue the topic in spite of interest from parents and students to allow dual sports.
