USD 410 gives bond updates

The USD 410 Board of Education talked bond updates at their monthly meeting on Monday, June 10. Board member, Superintendent Clint Corby and Hillsboro Elementary School Principal Nathan Hiebert, who was filling in for Business Manager Jerry Hinerman, were in attendance. Scott Winter was absent.

“The guy doing the brickwork on our high school, he’s earning every penny,” said Board President Jared Jost.

“It’s a huge job. It’s a huge difference of what you can see. I’m excited for that front of the high school to get done. I’m kind of chomping at the bit for that,” said Corby.

Corby passed around various swatches and samples to the board to show them what things will look like in the new projects.

He showed them the wooden material that will go on the auditorium stage. The auditorium seats will be maroon.

The bleachers in the high school gym will be maroon.

Corby said there were rumors that the bleachers would be black since they had been missing causing a gaping hole that looked black. But once the bleachers are on, they will be maroon.

Carpet has been selected for the auditorium as well as the tech center and the media center and all will soon be installed.

Curtains will also be installed in the auditorium and in the gym. The curtains in the gym will be vinyl, drop-down curtains with mesh on top and full color on the bottom. There will be a logo on the main court in the middle school basketball gym.

Corby said the contractors had started polishing the concrete in the auditorium where the seating will be. They had delivered all of the elevator materials and would be starting on that project next.

“The concrete is mostly completed except for the front of HMHS drainage and part of another entrance. They’ll be back later this week. The materials for that heated concrete are supposed to be in Thursday, so they will be able to finish that. They’re hoping Thursday afternoon or even Friday. The stage floor will be installed next week,” said Corby. They have one more week on the HES roof and then they will be at HMHS by the end of next week. And then in July, we get started on the carpet. Media center, tech center, drop down curtains, auditorium seats, doors, secure entrance, all in July.”
