‘Tis the season for giving

Treena Lucero knits while sitting in her booth Handmade by Treena at Kessler’s in Hillsboro on Saturday. Hillsboro hosted a Down Home Christmas event for people to get Christmas shopping done locally. Lucero reported a great turnout. “It was my most successful sale ever. That scarf shelf started out full and ended up empty,” said Lucero. If interested in any of her items, you can find her on facebook.

Alivia Hefley poses with her mom Sonja by the newly lit tree in downtown Hillsboro on Saturday. The pair had a day full of festivities in Marion County. “We went to Peabody and did the carriage ride there and we made a really neat craft. Then we ended up here for the tree lighting. Alivia really wanted to come because she enjoyed it so much last year,” said Sonja.

Donna Dalke sits at the booth for the Hillsboro Senior Center while Steve Fast sits next to her at the Hillsboro Museum booth. Both were available to answer any questions donors might have about their organizations. There were multiple places represented at the Hillsboro city building on Tuesday, Dec. 3 for anyone to donate money to in honor of #GivingTuesday.
