Tampa opens new bar

The Sale BARn is Tampa’s new bar that opened in July but has their grand opening this coming weekend.

Wilson and Erica Davis moved to Tampa two years ago from Wichita. While they both have kept pretty busy with work, with Wilson working for Novak Farms and Novak Trucking and Erica for the Centre School District, they both wanted to do more in their community.

“Tampa doesn’t have anything,” said Wilson.

So the couple decided to open up a bar. They opened up about a month ago but are getting ready to have their grand opening on Saturday. They have already found the place to be a hit.

Wilson said, “People have been enjoying having a bar here and we have gotten a lot of our business from word of mouth.”

Erica came up with the bar’s name playing on the cattle industry and the idea of men going off to sell cattle at the “sale barn”.

“Men can tell their wives they are off at The Sale BARn and they aren’t lying about where they are,” Wilson joked.

The couple does want the place to be a fun wholesome place for couples, friends, singles or anyone to hang out and just enjoy themselves.

“We had an incident down the road from us the other day (not connected to the bar) and I was talking to the Sheriff’s department and the officer said it was the first time he even knew there was a bar here. Our customers have been great,” said Wilson.

There are drinks available from soda to beer to mixed drinks. There are also snacks such as chips and candy. And they have a jukebox and pool table.

The grand opening will be starting at 5 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 13. Sam Shilts and Dylan Delk will be performing. There will be a cornhole tournament with a $20 entry fee per team and a cash prize for the winning team. A cash only beer station will be outside and credit and debit will be accepted inside.

For now, the place is open from 5 p.m.-12 a.m. on Thursday and 5 p.m.-2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. But the couple hopes to soon be open on Sundays from noon to 10 p.m. especially once football season starts.

You can find the self proclaimed “best bar in Tampa” at 301 N. Main St. in Tampa. For more information, check out their Facebook page or call Wilson at 316-393-6207.
