Marilyn Jones and Faie Frederickson serve guests ham and beans, cornbread on a stick, tomato relish from Jones’ own homegrown tomatoes and apple crisp. All the funds raised went to help restore the front of the Sunflower theater.

Along with the meal that was available, sidewalk music was provided by Bob Delk, Steve Hanneman, Susan Mayo along with a guest appearance by Taylor Ensminger. The event happened in downtown Peabody on Saturday evening.

Susan Mayo, Marilyn Jones and many friends put together a fun evening on Saturday, Oct. 16 for the community of Peabody. There was a delicious meal of ham and beans, cornbread on a stick, tomato relish made from Jones’ own homegrown tomatoes with apple crisp for dessert.

There were also baked good available for purchase and live music provided by several locals.

“The events went great! We made over $1500 from the combined donuts/cake sale and the dinner. Saturday night was great —there were people downtown on Main Street outside listening to music and eating dinner,” said Mayo.

The group is raising money for a grant that they are applying for.

“It is the state historical‘s Heritage Trust Fund. If we are awarded the grant, we would use the funding to work on restoring the front of the theater. It is a $90,000 grant, but we need to raise $18,000 in matching funds. We are currently up to $14,000, ‏and are confident will reach our goal by November 1, the application submission date. These events have helped us raise funds for this,” said Mayo.
