Soyez tabbed to be new Marion County Sheriff

The Marion County Republican Central Committee held a convention to fill the vacancy in the office of the Marion County Sheriff, on Saturday, March 5 at the Marion County Lake Hall.

A total of 42 precinct committee members were present, along with 3 proxy votes, to choose between Larry Starkey and Jeff Soyez. The candidate elected was Jeff Soyez. His name has been submitted to the Governor for appointment to hold the office of Sheriff until the primary and general election held later this year.

The Governor has seven days from receipt of the election notification to appoint the person elected in this process.
