New CEO appointed for St. Luke Hospital and Living Center

(Marion, KS)—On Aug. 30, St. Luke Hospital and Living Center welcomed Alex Haines as its new CEO, succeeding Jeremy Ensey. A resident of Marion, Haines has significant experience in hospital leadership.

“St. Luke Hospital and Living Center has a great reputation in the region, and I’m looking forward to working with the providers and staff to continue building on the strong legacy,” said Haines.

Prior to joining St. Luke, he was Vice President of Clinic Operations at NMC Health in Newton since 2017. Prior to working at NMC Health, Haines served as Director, Provider-Based Services at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado; and Clinic Practice Manager at Via Christi Clinic in Wichita.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Emporia State University and a Master of Health Care Leadership degree from Friends University.

His community service includes being a guest lecturer at Newton High School Science Academy, Sunday School teacher at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, and football and baseball coach for Marion Recreation League. He was honored by the Wichita Business Journal as a member of the “40 under 40” Class of 2020. He is married to Alysha Haines, APRN who works at St. Luke Medical Clinic, and they are the proud parents of three young children.

He said, “As someone who has lived in this community for the past nine years, I’m honored to have the opportunity to contribute on a daily basis.”

The Hospital Board of Directors, medical staff, employees, and volunteers of St. Luke are excited to welcome Alex as he begins this new chapter in St. Luke’s history of serving the people of Marion County.

Founded in 1907 as Marion Hospital, Hospital District No. 1, Marion County, Kansas (dba St.Luke Hospital and Living Center) today is a taxpayer-funded Critical Access Hospital. The hospital also operates an intermediate-level living center for older adults, a medical clinic, urgent care clinic and home care agency. It is governed by a seven-member elected Board of Directors.

The goal of the St. Luke team is to be an excellent community partner and enhance the lives of those in our community through personal care, quality service, and ethical practices. We want to be the health system of choice as we reach out to individuals and set the standard for excellence in wellness and health care. The Hospital is supported by the St. Luke Hospital Foundation and the St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary Shoppe.
