Marion Cheer enjoys fun season

Marion High School currently has a varsity cheer squad with 9 female members. Two upperclassman captains help the coaches oversee the team’s day to day routines. The squad performs at every varsity football game, girls & boys basketball games, special appearances around the community, and assist in school events that help encourage school spirit. During the football season the team hosted a little cheer clinic for our elementary-aged students. The kids were taught a fun routine, had the chance to cheer on the warriors for the first half of the game, and were given a commemorative t-shirt. We had roughly 50 kids come out for the event. The cheer squad also performed a special routine at halftime of the last home game to showcase our 5 seniors. This year during basketball season the squad has cheered on the warriors at all of the basketball games and select wrestling meets/tournaments. In addition, the squad participated in competition for the first time this year. Rally in the Valley Cheer Competition was held on Feb 20 at Valley Center High School. The team’s routine consisted of crowd rallying, stunting formations, a dance routine, and a cheer section. The girls were very excited for this new opportunity. Coaching Staff is Lauren Wealand & Reann Buchanan.
