Two injured in truck, tractor accident

Two drivers were injured Sunday after a semi-tractor trailer attempted to pass a tractor that was making a left turn onto a county road three miles west of Hillsboro.

David Roland Tollett, 49, of Emporia, was driving the 2001 semi-tractor, and Jason Robert Richmond, 19, of Marion, was driving the John Deere tractor.

Both vehicles were westbound on U.S. Highway 56.

The semi struck the John Deere after attempting to pass it as it was making a left turn onto Falcon Road, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report.

The tractor came to rest in the intersection while the semi came to rest 200 feet to the west of the intersection.

Neither driver was wearing a safety restraint, and both were transported to Hillsboro Community Medical Center, according to the report.
