This striking sunset caught the eye of Hillsboro photographer Phyllis Richert as she and husband Ed were traveling between Canton and Galva on New Year?s Day evening. Sunshine and relatively moderate temperatures started 2009 with a favorable impression for Marion County residents celebrating the new year with friends and family. The mercury dropped noticeably on Saturday, which made for a brisk Sunday. But on Monday, weather forecasters were predicting a warming trend with no storms in sight for the week ahead.
