On the eve of CELEBRATION

Near perfect weather helped attract a record crowd Thursday for the combination Farmers Market and Fourth of July Eve celebration at the historic Schaeffler House in Hillsboro.

Walkers and riders dressed in red, white and blue wave their flags in the kids parade.

Len Coryea serves a bowl of ice cream to top off the meal supplied by the Friends of the Hillsboro Museums.

Uncle Sam (a.k.a. David Loewen) strolls the grounds with a sack of goodies.

Roger Hannaford of Marion, Republican for the 70th District House of Representatives seat, receives some political advice from Abe Lincoln himself (otherwise known as Don Dahl, the current holder of the seat). Hannaford and fellow GOP candidate Bill Spangler of Burns gave brief political speeches while Bob Brookens of Marion, who was unable to attend, delivered his remarks by proxy.
