The candidate filing deadline for city council seats in Burns, Hillsboro and Marion is at noon on Jan. 26.

According to the Marion County Clerk?s office, John Wheeler, is the only person so far to toss his hat into the ring for a council position in the city of Marion.

The two incumbents in Marion are Jerry Dieter and Melissa Mermis.

In Hillsboro, incumbents who have yet to file include Brent Driggers, Ward I, and Byron McCarty, Ward II.

Incumbents whose terms are up in Burns include Tim Rogers, Jim Scott and Ron Goodwin.

If anyone lives in the city of Burns, Hillsboro or Marion and would like their name on the ballot, they have less than two weeks to file.

In the event a city primary is necessary, that election is March 1 with Feb. 8 the last day for voter registration.

The city general election is April 5, and the last day to register to vote is March 15.
