Superintendent Steve Hudson maintains a list of improvements he and his staff have implemented at Marion County Park and Lake.
?We try to get at least two or three major projects done a year,? Hudson said. ?The guys that are working for me, and myself, we take a lot of pride in what goes on out here. That pride, I think, carries on to other people, like the lakeshore owners.?
Hudson and his staff have completed the following projects:
n Replaced commode at east shelter house outhouse and repaired roof on shelter house.
n Painted bench seats in east and north shelter houses.
n Planted 12 trees at lake.
n Placed eight large rocks for seating/decoration.
n Painted Lake Hall, trash Dumpsters, trim on outhouse buildings, signposts, electrical outlet pedestals.
n Painted merry-go-round new coat of green and white.
n Painted heated dock green and white.
n Painted privacy dividers in restrooms.
n Painted inside of the bait shop gray and gray/green.
n Repaired street light at heated dock.
n Established new campsites, east across the lake from the office and south side of lake, with beach boat landing.
n Built three fishing piers, one in Tin Whistle Cove and two in Mullikin Flats.
n Cleaned up outside/inside shop area; reorganized everything.
n Put up new ?Swim at Own Risk? and ?No Diving? signs.
n Built horseshoe pit at north shelter house.
n Built shelving in the heated dock and lounge area.
n Put a new dock at the south boat ramp.
n Installed new water pump for the fish-cleaning station at the heated dock.
n Placed 11 PVC fish habitat bushes around the lake.
n Added new and improved first-aid kit with defibrillator in the Lake Office.
n Installed new outside lights on Lake Hall.
n Cleaned out brush on the west side of Mullikin Flats.
n Installed floating fish feeder.
