Community comes together to help with storm flooding

Business owners and Peabody residents worked together Saturday night to place sandbags around business buildings downtown to prevent as much flooding as possible during the storms that hit Marion County. “Our buildings are all in the National Historic Register. Several of them sustained structural damage to their basement walls and supports. We are working with engineers to develop a plan of action to secure some funding to help us address those structural issues,” said Morgan Marler, owner of the Flinthills Gypsies and a Peabody Main Street Association board member. Peabody Main Street Association is the liasion with the historic preservation folks that are assisting in the endeavor.
