Hillsboro schools receive “A” on financial audit

“It rarely happens that all requirements are met in a financial audit,” said Hillsboro USD 410 Superintendent Max Heinrich.

The report was presented by auditors at the Dec 9 school board meeting stating the school financials were in line and in order.

A student contact day was changed to professional development so staff could be trained on “Mental Health Aid for Youth.” A “Mental Health Aid for Adults” will be presented at a later date.

“The training will certify each of our faculty to offer first aid in mental health situations that may occur with our students,” Heinrich said.

The training is set for February 10, 2020.

School board members approved an activity fund line for Project Search – WEST (Work Exploration Skills Training) so members can gain hands-on experience working the school concession stand. Along with a portion of the profits going to help fund their activities, they will learn money counting, customer service and other life skills.

Other items approved:

Assistant softball coach Stephanie Sinclair was named to the head coaching position.

With the new food service, the facility usage guidelines were updated to reflect the changes for using the school kitchen.

Some surplus items in storage will be sold with the funds going to Jesse Allen’s Entrepreneurship Class.
