Hillsboro enjoys a flick

Marion County residents gathered at a safe distance together on Saturday night to enjoy some snacks and the movie Grease on the big screen out at the old AMPI building near the police station across from Casey’s on Ash in Hillsboro.

Many businesses and the City of Hillsboro worked together to provide a fun evening for Hillsboro and Marion County residents. The Hillsboro Convention and Visitors Bureau along with Midway Motors, the Hillsboro Healthcare Clinic, the Hillsboro Community Hospital, Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and several others joined forced to provide an evening of fun for the whole family.

There were several food vendors available as well free popcorn all evening. The popcorn was provided by Eagle and Midway.

“I think we had close to 300 people for the event—not all at once as many came and went,” said Staci Silhan, a member of the CVB board and one of the main organizers of the event. “We would like to try and have a similar outdoor movie night this spring when the weather warms up enough.”

The weather ended up being nice after a week of rain and cold. People were able to sit out in chairs and on blankets.

Being outside with snacks and friends added to the feel of an old fashioned drive-in which was fitting with the theme of the movie Grease.
