Helmer gets 100 career win

Senior Garrett Helmer has achieved 100 wins during his Hillsboro high school career.

Hillsboro High School hosted the Central Kansas League (CKL) Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 10 where Senior Garrett Helmer surpassed 100 career wins in high school while improving his season record to 36-6.

Helmer has been wrestling for around 12 years after starting out doing club wrestling in kindergarten.

“It’s good to see all the hard work over all those years paying off when I got 100 wins,” said Helmer.

His parents were on hand to witness their son adding his name to the HHS wrestling record books.

“We are so proud of how hard Garrett has worked throughout his career. Wrestling is a difficult sport with many highs and lows, and it is very exciting to be seeing the rewards of his hard work,” said mom Dawn Helmer.

Garrett will graduate in May. He plans to attend college in the fall where he hopes to earn a degree in architecture engineering.
