The Hillsboro Community Foundation (HCF) held their annual Giving Tuesday Event from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30 in the Hillsboro City Building, and it was a great success. Giving Tuesday is an annual event held globally and one that the Hillsboro Community Foundation holds each year to “connect donors that care with causes that matter”.

HCF has expanded to 41 funds over the past two years and is planning to add another fund in the near future.

“HCF is very excited and pleased to be broadening their fund base in the community,” said HCF Director Virginia Martens. “It demonstrates that the local organizations and community members are committed to being a vital part of Hillsboro by becoming active participants in growing and developing our city, our culture and our ideals.”

There is a check drop-off located outside of the public library and five fund representatives were also present with information about their funds inside the city building. Donors were invited to visit

with the reps and give to any of the various funds held at the Hillsboro Community Foundation.

HCF Board Members were also available to visit with donors about HCF and its mission.

“We appreciated everyone who joined us in celebrating this eventful time. HCF would not be in

existence without your generous giving spirit.” Martens said.

Over $24,500 was raised, with donations given to 14 funds. Refreshments were served.
