While organizers have yet to conduct a final count, Lisa Hodges, secretary/treasurer of the Peabody July Fourth Celebration Society, estimates 4,700 people came to the city park to watch the fireworks show. Last year, about 3,500 people attended, she said. More than 50 people volunteered to build, set up and shoot off the fireworks, she said, with this year?s show lasting close to an hour. ?I would really like to thank all the volunteers,? Hodges said. ?Without them, there?s no way that we could put on a show like that.?
