No one hurt during Goessel home invasion

Two armed men wearing ski masks entered a home in Goessel between 11 a.m. and noon Sunday, March 12, according to Marion County Sheriff Rob Craft.

Craft said the homeowners called 911 when they returned home from church at about 12:20 p.m. They found their 19-year-old daughter bound in the bathroom.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The daughter stated that the two men in ski masks taped her up in the bathroom, and one had a handgun. One of the men searched the house while the other guarded her.

Nothing was found to be taken at this time.

Both suspects were gone when the homeowners arrived. Officers from the sherriff’s office and Hillsboro Police Department responded to the scene.

The case is under investigation.

For protection, Craft said he increasingly recommends home monitoring systems of some type.

“These can be very simple noise-producing systems to very elaborate systems that can notify you and law enforcement of a possible intruder,” he said.
