Five students from Hillsboro High School competed at the 2016 Technology Student Association National Competitive Events Conference June 28 to July 2 at the Gaylord Opryland convention center in Nashville, Tenn. In attendance were (from left) Jacob Funk, Reece Berens, Nathan Simhiser, Jon Hinerman and Avery Unruh. The students were accompanied by Creigh Bell, TSA adviser. The System Control Technology team of Berens, Simhiser and Hinerman placed second in its category. The Structural Design and Engineering team of Jon Hinerman and Reece Berens finished in the top 10. In the Dragster Design competition, Unruh produced a top 10 qualifying time and was a top 16 semifinalist; Funk achieved a top 30 qualifying time.
