Hillsboro High School students rake leaves to serve community

Hillsboro High School students were busy Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 22, raking leaves around town as a service project for the community. This group is clearing the leaves from the yard of Don and Connie Isaac at Adams and First streets. The entire body, about 178 students, participated in the project. Almost all of the yards that were raked were either called in by property owners or suggested by others in the community. The school had 36 yards on its “to-do list,” but actually raked more than that. Students raked several yards that were not called in but could benefit from the attention. “Helping others may not always be on the forefront of a teenager’s mind, however I can speak for all the group leaders in saying how amazed we are at how well the students worked,” said Dustin Dalke, student council sponsor and project organizer. “The students worked diligently and cheerfully. This was just one great opportunity for our students to share their time with those who may not be able to, or find time to, rake unwanted leaves.”
