The Hillsboro High School Class of 2016 graduated 29 students Saturday at Joel Wiens Stadium as hundreds of relatives and friends watched from the bleachers. Pictured above with first-year principal Clint Corby are valedictorians (from left) Reece Berens, Matthew Denholm, Kalen Moss and Lydia Kliewer. According to Berens, a little known fact about this year’s class is that it was the smallest class since 1937. Denholm talked about the students who have come and gone. “Thirteen of us have been here since kindergarten,” he said. “Twenty-one of us have been here since the beginning of middle school and let’s not forget the original seven of us from Lucky Ducks pre-K.” Kliewer said she thinks their class is being underestimated because graduates are looking to become doctors, veterinarians, teachers, engineers, a press secretary and maybe even a president. Moss challenged classmates to go out and inspire others to do their best.
