Headed to Hutch: Hillsboro girls win fourth straight sub-state

The Hillsboro High School girls? basketball team earned a fourth consecutive trip to the Class 3A state basketball tournament Saturday night by defeating Moundridge in a defensive battle, 29-19, to win the sub-state tournament at Sedgwick. The 21-2 Trojans will open play at the Hutchinson Sports Arena as the tournament?s No. 3 seed, and will play No. 6 Caney Valley at 4:45 p.m. Thursday. The Hillsboro boys came within five points of making it a double date to Hutch, falling to Moundridge 48-43 to end their season with an 18-5 record.
