Students toured the MCC Central States center in North Newton Nov. 21 as part of their desire to help meet the needs of typhoon victims in the Philippines. Knepp, a staff person at the center and a USD 411 board member, was able to organize a project to gather items for the hygiene kits MCC will send to people living in the devastated region. Students began gathering shampoo, bar soap, laundry soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, adhesive bandages, fingernail clippers and towels to send overseas through Tuesday, Nov. 26. The entire grade school student body visited the MCC headquarters to learn how the aid they gathered will be put to good use.
