Flint Hills Counterpoint launches Sound Tasting in Peabody

Flint Hills Counterpoint launched its Sound Tasting events last Saturday with a sidewalk celebration in Peabody. Pandea Smith, of Porcupine Tea Company and Mercantile, had sparkling tea and scones available for sale and Fannie Sterling 1884 and Flint Hills Gypsies were open for shopping and exploring sounds. Steve and Kelma Blackwell fed rolls to the player piano in Fannie’s for lovely background music, and Marilyn Jones provided bouquets for the tables and as gifts to the guests. Susan Mayo talked about her project to collect the sounds of Marion County to create a new musical composition to be premiered in 2023. After enjoying the sidewalk adventure, participants moved out to Faie Frederickson’s beautiful prairie walk, outside of Peabody, to enjoy the sights and sounds of a wonderful evening on the Kansas prairie.
